The White House Web site includes an America Responds section as
well as a section devoted to the Office of Homeland Security.
- FEMA.gov,
Federal Emergency Management Agency. Includes a great deal of
recovery and assistance information related to the terrorist
attacks. You can also thank the New York rescue workers.
- FBI,
Includes a Most Wanted Terrorists section and pictures of the
suspected September
11 hijackers. The FBI needs people who are proficient in both
English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Farsi, or Pashto.

Civil Defense Background
- National Archives
and Records Administration, Records of the Office of Civilian
Defense (OCD). The OCD was established in May 1941 to coordinate
federal, state, and local defense programs for the protection of
civilians during air raids and other emergencies and to facilitate
civilian participation in war programs. It was abolished in June,
1945.
